Italian food happens to be one of the most admired foreign cuisines in our home. We had sought out Italian restaurants every now and then to satisfy our taste buds, until we decided to give it a shot ourselves. “Meat Sauce” is an essential and probably the most recognizable feature of every Italian kitchen. MR took this task on himself, to recreate this age-old classic with whatever we could find at our neighborhood grocery store. Turns out the sauce was not only delicious but also easy on the pocket. We like our meat-sauce poured generously over a deck of Spaghetti, sprinkled with . You can try this in your own way and let us know about that too.
Ingredients:
- Beef – 250gms (Minced)
- Tomatoes – 2 (Medium-sized, Ripe)
- Canned chopped Tomatoes – 1 can/400gms
- Onion – 1 (Medium)
- Garlic – 3 cloves
- Dried Oregano – 2 tsp
- Dried Basil – 1 tsp
- Crushed Black Pepper – 1 tsp
- Salt – to-taste
- Cooking (Olive) Oil – 3 tbsp
Method:
Prep:
- Finely chop 3 cloves of Garlic
- Finely chop 1 medium-sized Onion
- Finely chop 2 medium-sized ripe Tomatoes
Recipe:
- Cook chopped Garlic in 3 tbsp of oil until light brown
- Add chopped Onion, cook until the Onion starts losing its color
- Add the minced Beef, cook until the meat loses its water
- Add the canned chopped Tomatoes, chopped fresh Tomatoes, 2 tsp dried Oregano, 1 tsp dried Basil, 1 tsp crushed Black Pepper, and Salt
- Mix well, add 1 1/2 cup of Water, mix again
- Cover and cook on low flame for 1 1/2 hour or until required consistency is achieved; keep gently stirring at regular intervals
- Serve with Pasta and Garlic Bread (preferred)
P.S. if you are unable to find canned chopped Tomatoes, you can use canned peeled Tomatoes, or canned Tomato puree as well.
